A highly accessible low-rise building with plenty of car parking spaces is home to the Johnston IA business center. The business center is easy to find from Interstates 80/35 and offers excellent business connections to the Greater Des Moines region where the key industries are financial services, logistics, biosciences and data centers. Most employment in Johnston itself is in the wholesale and retail sector, followed by healthcare and social services, then finance, insurance and real estate. Manufacturing makes up nearly 8% of the educated and productive labor force, closely followed by professional services. Nearly 49% of over 25s have a bachelor's degree or higher. Greater Des Moines is attractive for business because of its central geographic location, good roads and rail, and access to a quality IT workforce. Des Moines also has a Foreign Trade Zone, providing special services for businesses trading internationally, and a large commercial airport - Iowa's only port of entry.

The West Glen Town Center is located in an upscale, high quality mixed-use town center in West Des Moines, an affluent suburb of Iowa's capital Des Moines. The city is a major center for the insurance industry, with many insurance companies headquartered there. It also hosts a substantial number of financial services and publishing companies. Many other major American businesses also have offices in the Des Moines metro area. The city proactively aims to create an environment where new businesses can flourish. Unsurprisingly, surveys have repeatedly shown that the majority of companies operating in the area say Des Moines is a good place to do business.
