Harrow is a town in North West London, England. It has been managed by the London Borough of Harrow since 1965, before this, it fell under the Middlesex Borough. Harrow is the 12th largest London Borough by area and has a population of approximately 240,000.   Harrow runs along the Metropolitan Line in Zone 5 and also has a London Over ground Station called Harrow & Wealdstone. It is approximately 8 miles from Heathrow Airport and 17 miles from Luton City Airport. One of London’s oldest surviving medieval structures is still standing in Harrow on the Hill, The Medieval Church of St Mary’s.   The University of Westminster has a campus in Harrow near Northwick Park Hospital and is undergoing redevelopment. Harrow Public School for boys is famed for having educated seven prime ministers, including Winston Churchill. It also featured in one of the famous Harry Potter films.   Despite being a built up area, 20% of Harrow is made up of parks and open land, the equivalent to eight Hyde Parks. Harrow has two shopping malls, St Ann’s Shopping Center and St Georges. St Ann’s shopping Centre was opened by Princess Diana in 1987. Each mall is home to large well known brands and department stores, including M&S, BHS, Primark and more. A gym and cinema can be found in St Georges amongst its many restaurants and stores.   The area of Harrow is largely made up of small independent businesses, with Kodak being the biggest private company head quartered in Harrow. Wickes LTD and the betting brand Ladbrokes PLC have head offices based in Harrow, along with Spar, the retail chain of mini supermarkets. // //
